Something big to be announced for Angry Birds Star Wars on Monday

Welp, ’tis time for another post about Angry Birds, but unlike the post at the end of last week (about Red’s Mighty Feathers, the most evilly frustrating and non-fun Angry Birds experience I’ve ever had), this post is back to being of the excited variety. Y’see, Rovio has today teased an announcement that’s due to be happening next Monday and, let’s not beat about the bush, is another chapter in the Angry Birds Star Wars saga.

In Rovio’s own words, “Attention, Angry Birds fans! Stay tuned on Monday, July 15th, for big news about a brand new game!”

So, what’s the crack, then? What can we expect Rovio to be announcing on Monday?

Well, let’s start with the obvious: that poster, up there, is the poster for The Phantom Menace, but with Anakin Skywalker replaced by Red Bird, in the same way that Luke Skywalker was Red Bird in the current version of the game, with the original trilogy. So, what we’re looking at is either a whole new game, or an expansion pack for the current game, letting you play through the events of the prequel trilogy.

Basically, then, the opportunity to murder a whole new bygone age of space piggies on yer Samsung Galaxy S3, or yer HTC One, or whatever.

Now then, I did say that this blog post is back to being of the excited variety, but it is tinged with a hint of worry, and to find out why, one simply needs to take another look at the picture up there. Yes, there’s a distinct danger that Jar Jar Binks is going to make an appearance, what with this being the prequels and everything.

I can only hope I get the chance to fling birds at him…
